Sophie is a rubber giraffe. She is French. She came to us from our friends, Chris and Caroline, when we were still awaiting Bea’s arrival.
Sophie has proven to be a very important of Bea’s play life. We always make sure we have the squeaky rubber toy, and Bea chews… and chews… and chews on poor Sophie.
Bea loves Sophie. And so does Freddie, so we make sure to always keep him far when Bea’s squeaking with Sophie.
Give Me Your Best Shot is a challenge designed to help new-to-D-SLR users learn about photography.The challenge isn’t a contest, but a way to learn D-SLR photography with friends from the blogosphere.
This week’s challenge and lesson was all about ISO.
The shot above was taken with an ISO of 800. The shot below was taken with an ISO of 400. I would have liked more light, but I still think it is an interesting shot.

Yes, the best way to get good with the DSLR is to just keep shooting.. and toys are great things to practice on as they don’t move and wiggle
@Emmy, This project makes me feel like I’m back in college… though no darkroom!
Isn’t it funny how kids pick the most expensive or fragile things?
BTW–the linky for the ISO challenge is coming tomorrow morning….so you’re not too late! The challenge was actually for Bloggography. I hope you’ll link to that, too!
@Lolli, Thanks! I am not very good with challenge rules… if there are too many, I lose a couple along the way. BTW- I was having a hard time putting the GMYBS button on my site… working on that!
oh too funny, i was thinking about shooting sophie too. my little guy LOVES sophie too (as does the dog). great shot!
@tara, Sophie is a great toy!
I love Sophie, she’s such an adorable toy! I like your shot too, and agree with just a little more light (by a window perhaps?). Super cute!
@Kristin,
I should have done it by a window… but I was worried about mixing the temperatures of the light (tungsten vs. daylight)
Thanks for the feedback!
What a cute giraffe!
@Jenny, Oh, but you must her her squeak!
